How to Clean Jaccard Meat Tenderizer (6 Steps)

Knowing how to clean a jaccard tenderizer tool is an essential thing not only for a professional chef but, also for people who happen to love to cook good food.
Cleaning of it is also necessary to do whenever you’re using it for your next meat tenderizing task or you just want to give it a soft wash before you use it.
More specifically, in this post we are going to talk about how you will be able to clean the jaccard tenderizer once you’re done using it.
In this post, we will talk about 6 steps to clean it.
So let’s begin and learn to clean it step by step.

Step 1:  Unlock and Remove the Bottom Part of the Jaccard Meat Tenderizer

You’ll find the bottom hooks in most types of tenderizers. Just put the knife or better, back side of a spoon and unlock the hooks from each side.
Most tenderizers are of the same way. They have the detachable bottom part which you can easily detach before you clean it.
Once both the hooks are loosened, you can just pull off the bottom part with a slight force towards yourself to detach it.

Step 2: Place It Under The Tap Water And Use A Brush

Let the tenderizer tool be under the water for about 1 minute and after that make use of a brush to clean it off.
You can use any type of brush for cleaning purposes while the tap water remains open.
At this point you can use dishwasher soap on your brush and apply to the blades of the jaccard tenderizer to give it a good clean. This step is must do for a better clean. But, make sure you use the brush properly because the blades are pretty sharp and pointed and can cause damage if not done with proper concentration.
We also recommend using a lengthier brush so your fingers don’t come near the blades preventing the damage significantly.
Also, we recommend making use of warm tap water in comparison to cold.
Because the fat of the meat usually sticks to the blades and is very hard to remove sometimes with the use of cold water or even normal water.
Warm water easily and naturally cleans the fat particles sticking on the blades.

Step 3: Clean the Bottom Part

Take the bottom part you just detached and give it a good clean as well.
Just like the way you did with the actual blades.
Make sure you’ve opened a warm tap water for this purposes as well because the bottom part is a part which is fully exposed to the meat and the meat fat.
So this means it will probably be containing most of the fat meat particles then blades.

Step 4: Install the Bottom Lock Carefully

Now, the part you’ve detached from the tenderizer, place it again just the way it was placed before you split it.
That’s why it’s important to analyze how it’s installed prior you uninstalling it. Not a necessary step because most of the times installing and uninstalling is pretty straight forward and doesn’t require any special knowledge.
Be careful and not to hurry at this step because the blades are very sharp and can cause problems for you.
Also make sure, the tenderizer is paced upside down on the hard surface. Preferably, a kitchen slab because this will let it sit pretty well and you don’t have to readjust your position comparing if you’re doing it on your sofa or bed.
Regular places like sofa or bed may cause a problem because kids are there as well. This can not only hurt the kids but, also you’ll have a hard time adjusting your hand positions and at the same time you’ve to prevent your kids and let them stay away  from the sharp tenderizer blades.
After you’ve analyzed the position just place the bottom part on the tenderizer and put a slight force to make sure it sits well on the actual position.
After that close the hooks by both ends which can easily be done with the use of your thumb and a finger.

Step 5: Let It Dry

You can place the tool under a fan or let it sun dry it or just place it on top of a kitchen slab so it naturally dry.
Drying is not really an important step before using but, it’s always better and a good practice to always dry the jaccard tenderizer before you make a use of it.
One of the reasons is that it can be difficult to use the tool because when it’s wet because it might stick to the meat every time you apply a force.
Because water can be a sticking factor in this scenario and it’s hard to pull the tool off and the whole process can be cumbersome and time consuming that way.
Dried jaccard tool is pretty fast and runs smoothly throughout the meat.

Step 6: Start Using

Now, here comes the actual part which is using the cleaned jaccard meat tool.
The best way to use the jaccard tenderizer is to apply a good amount of force fast and throughout the meat.
For, example if you’re making a steak (which is why jaccard tenderizer is usually used for) for the dinner start off by hitting the tool starting from one point and gradually go through the entire meat till you reach the other end.
Do the same thing on both the sides of the steak so you get the best possible smoky and juicy steak flavor.
